Overall wouldn’t recommend until a new management breaths life into this grand old hotel!
The hotel was an older, large building in an excellent location for the beach and Exmouth town.
Unfortunately upon arrival our room key didn’t work twice and the lady seemed otherwise occupied on several occasions. The staff was lacking enough of a team, often communicating with indifference or negativity to guests comments. They were without enough care for the guests and no events were advertised or happening at the hotel making it seem cold and lacking the human touch. Our plug/toilet sink blocked, there was damage to the bathroom door and the shower leaked every time we used it. The Indian gentlemen who helped unblock the sink said this happens often and we heard other guests complaining about their bedroom facilities..The shower compartment design is very bad regarding holding water in the cubicle. In time the dampness will create black mould, the lip at the bottom needs to be higher and the side panel needs to be much longer in order to prevent spill from the shower cubicle.. This terrible shower design happens at too many hotel we have visited and needs a big improvement overhaul! The flush button was very stiff and the bathroom was too small. Also the hotel interior was very bland and lacked character despite its historic features. The car park was timely with far too many potholes, see pictures below. There wasn’t any living plants around the building or enough going on to make guests feel welcome or at ease.
